This directory contains software for use with the data included on
this volume. All of these software are designed for PC/Windows95 and
PC/WindowsNT platforms. Below are listings of key files associated
with these software, plus brief descriptions of each of the programs
provided.
Note that all software contained on this volume is designed to run
'in place', i.e. it should work correctly when run from the DVD-R.
key files:
SOFTINFO.TXT - (this file) describes directory contents
PDSEXP.EXE - PDS Explorer executable
PDSEXP.HLP - PDS Explorer on-line help file
SPLASH.EXE - Splash executable
SPLASH.HLP - Splash on-line help file
SPLASH.TXT - 'Using Splash,' an introduction to Splash
TEXTVIEW.EXE - text viewer for use with PDS Explorer
*.DLL - dynamically-linked library files used by Splash
Software description:
Name Description
PDSEXP PDS Explorer (for use on IBM/Windows95 and IBM/WindowsNT
platforms). May be used to navigate through this volume
with a point and click interface. This program should run
automatically upon inserting the DVD-R into a Windows95
machine. This software was developed at the Institute of
Geophysics and Planetary Physics at UCLA.
SPLASH plots PDS Version 3.2 labeled data files (for use on
IBM/Windows95 and IBM/WindowsNT platforms). This software
was developed at the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary
Physics at UCLA.
TEXTVIEW a text viewer (for use on IBM/Windows95 and IBM/WindowsNT
platforms) used by PDSEXP to view text files when no other
viewer is available. This software was developed at the
Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at UCLA.
In addition to the software contained on this volume, the following
sources have software designed to work with some of the data contained
on this volume:
The PDS has produced a number of general purpose software tools designed
for use with PDS labeled files. This software is distributed by the PDS
Central Node. For more information, or to obtain this software, contact
the PDS Home Page website (http://pds.jpl.nasa.gov), and select the 'PDS
Data and Services' link.
The NAIF Toolkit, designed for use with the SPICE kernels, is available
through the PDS Navigation and Ancillary Information Facility (NAIF) Node.
For additional information on the Toolkit or how to obtain it please contact
Chuck Acton (INTERNET: cacton@spice.jpl.nasa.gov, DECNET: NAIF::CACTON,
PHONE: (818)354-3869) or check the PDS website's link to the NAIF node for
current NAIF contact information.
Finally, the PDS/PPI node is aware of software, either under development or
already available, which may be used with some or all of the data found on
this volume. This includes software for performing coordinate transformations
between various Jovian coordinate systems as well as generating additional
ephemeris in these systems. For information about this software or help with
any of the other software found on this volume, please contact the PDS
Operator at the PDS/PPI node:
INTERNET: pds_operator@igpp.ucla.edu;
PHONE: 310-206-6073.
